Department of Philosophy, National Taiwan University, Taiwan Notice of Vacancies
The Department of Philosophy at National Taiwan University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (3 vacancies) (preference will be given to Assistant Professors).
Teaching appointment is effective from February 1, 2028.
Qualification: Ph.D. in Philosophy or related fields
Specialization: 1. Confucian Philosophy (with priority given to Song and Ming dynasty Confucianism) 2. Ethics 3. Comparative Philosophy (including cross-disciplinary studies) 4. Logic 5. AI Philosophy
Other Requirements: All applicants should be prepared to offer mandatory courses, and those who apply for the position of Confucian Philosophy in principle should be competent to teach in Mandarin. (teaching experience is preferable)
Application Materials:
(1) Photocopy of certificate of doctoral degree An official transcript of doctoral studies is required for the application for the position of Assistant Professor. (2) Curriculum vitae (please at the beginning specify the field of application), Photocopy of ID card or passport (3) Publication list (4) Description of work experience and/or special honors (if any) (5) Statement of research specialization and academic interests (6) Course syllabi (including mandatory courses) and syllabi of previously offered courses (if any) (7) Major Publications should be published after February 2023: Up to three (Doctoral dissertation can be a major publication). If major publications are in the form of monographs or book chapters, please submit proof of review and publication. (8) Other reference publications, if any, should be published after February 2021. For those whose doctoral dissertation is submitted for review, all other works are listed as references. (9) Two letters of recommendation. Deadline: Applications should be received by December 31, 2026 (Taipei time). Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Those who pass the first phase of selection will be notified separately by the Department to submit their printed manuscripts and to give a lecture, which will be held around late April 2027 (travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant). Failure to attend will be considered as a withdrawal from the application process.
