Content	1. 3. Position Rank: Assistant Professor or above. 2. Number of Positions: One Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field and be able to teach courses in English. 4. Areas of Specialization: Priority will be given to applicants specializing in syntax and/or research on Austronesian languages. Applicants with expertise in other interdisciplinary areas of linguistic research, particularly those involving interfaces with AI, are also encouraged to apply. 5. Responsibilities: a. Teaching To teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise, including the required course Linguistic Fieldwork . b. Research and Scholarship To develop and maintain an active and independent research team and produce high-quality scholarly work with national and international impact and visibility. c. Institute and University Service To contribute to Institute and University service and governance, including committee work, admissions, curriculum development, and other academic responsibilities as appropriate, and participate actively in the Institute’s intellectual community through seminars, workshops, collaborative research, and other academic activities. 6. d. Student Supervision and Mentoring To supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and research development. Compensation, Funding Opportunities, and Faculty Support: a. Salary and Additional Compensation Faculty salaries are determined in accordance with the compensation standards established by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education for national universities and include base salary and an academic research allowance. Eligible faculty may also receive University merit-based supplements, including incentives for newly hired outstanding talent, flexible compensation, and additional teaching and research allowances. b. Research Funding Opportunities Faculty may apply for a range of internal and external research funding opportunities, including the Ministry of Education’s Yushan （Young） Scholar Program, National Science and Technology Council （NSTC） research grants, and University programs supporting newly appointed and outstanding faculty. These programs provide support for developing research programs, personnel, equipment, international collaboration, and other research activities. c. Teaching Support and EMI Incentives The University provides resources to support teaching and course development, including dedicated support for English-medium instruction （EMI）. Eligible faculty offering approved EMI courses may apply for course subsidies, teaching-material support, and EMI teaching assistant （TA） support, subject to University regulations and review procedures. 7. Housing Support Newly appointed faculty members are eligible to apply for university faculty housing, subject to university regulations and availability. International faculty may also receive assistance with accommodation and settling-in arrangements. Research Environment and Academic Community: The Institute fosters an interdisciplinary academic community centered on language, with particular strengths at the intersections of language, cognition, and information science. Its research and teaching span theoretical and experimental linguistics, cognitive approaches to language, computational methods, data science, and language technology, providing a collaborative environment for faculty to develop research across traditional disciplinary boundaries. Faculty have opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across NTU through the Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Center, the Graduate Institute of Brain and Mind Sciences, and Co- Intelligence Humanities AI Future Lab. The Institute also maintains active research connections with leading universities and research institutions in Taiwan and internationally, including Academia Sinica, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Tokyo. These connections provide a strong foundation for new faculty to develop interdisciplinary and international collaborations while building their own research networks. 8. Representative Publications within the Past Five Years: Up to four publications, published on or after August 1, 2022. e. Supplementary Publications within the Past Seven Years: Up to five publications, published on or after August 1, 2020. f. Applicants who have previously held teaching or research appointments at colleges, universities, or research institutions in Taiwan should submit a copy of their teacher certificate and copies of appointment letters for all such appointments. g. Three letters of recommendation. h. Course syllabi for three proposed courses. 10.
