Content Faculty Positions at the Department of Geography, National Taiwan University
The Department of Geography at National Taiwan University invites applications for one or two full-time faculty positions at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. The successful candidates will be expected to engage in teaching and research. The anticipated starting date is August 2027.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree. We welcome applications from scholars whose research addresses geospatial issues and whose academic expertise lies in geography, earth and environmental sciences, geographic data science, or related fields. Candidates should have the potential to strengthen the Department’s forward-looking and interdisciplinary research in geography.
Relevant fields of specialization include:
1. Physical geography and the earth’s critical zone: Global ecology, biogeography, terrestrial biogeochemistry, and other related fields.
2. Geographic information science and technology: Spatial data science and geocomputation, remote sensing of the environment, geographic artificial intelligence (GeoAI), spatial thinking, spatial ontology, geovisualization, and other related fields.
We seek candidates who demonstrate the academic potential to lead innovative research on emerging geographical issues, a strong commitment to teaching, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in the Department and advance interdisciplinary integration. Applicants should submit the following materials: (1) A letter of application, including proposed teaching and research plans at the Department. Priority may be given to applicants whose teaching plans cover at least one course related to the fields listed above; (2) a curriculum vitae and autobiography/personal statement; (3) A copy of the doctoral degree certificate. Applicants who have not yet received their degree must provide a letter from their doctoral advisor confirming that they are expected to obtain the doctoral degree by August 2027; (4) a complete list of publications; (5) one copy of each publication produced within the past five years, dating from December 2021 onward. Publications in SCI, SSCI, TSSCI, or other relevant databases should be clearly indictaed. Applicants must also designate one paper published within the past three years, dating from December 2023 onward, as their representative work. The representative work should be a published article in an SCI- or SSCI-indexed journal for which the applicant is the first author or corresponding author, or an equivalent scholarly work, such as a rigorously peer-reviewed academic book; (6) contact information for three referees. Application materials will not be returned.
