About the Institute The Hydrotech Research Institute (HRI) of National Taiwan University is one of Taiwan’s leading research institutes in hydraulic engineering, water resources management, river engineering, coastal engineering, and related interdisciplinary fields. The Institute is actively engaged in fundamental and applied research, technology development, industry collaboration, and international academic exchange.
HRI invites applications for one full-time research faculty position at the rank of Assistant Research Fellow, Associate Research Fellow, or Research Fellow. Appointment rank will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and academic achievements. Position Title: Assistant Research Fellow / Associate Research Fellow / Research Fellow (Open Rank) Number of Positions: One (1) position is available. The anticipated starting date of the appointment is August 1, 2027. Location: Hydrotech Research Institute, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan Areas of Expertise • Hydraulic Engineering • Water Resources Engineering • River Engineering • Coastal Engineering • Related interdisciplinary fields Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications • Proven experience in technology research and development. • Strong theoretical and analytical background in hydraulics and water-related engineering. • Extensive laboratory or experimental research experience. • Experience in hydraulic model testing. • Interdisciplinary research accomplishments. • International collaboration experience and ability to contribute to global academic and technical exchanges. Responsibilities • Develop and lead externally funded research projects. • Conduct innovative research in areas relevant to the Institute’s mission. • Participate in technology development, consulting, outreach, and professional services. • Contribute to international collaborations and academic exchange activities. • Support institutional development and strategic initiatives. Curriculum Vitae, including education, employment history, honors, publications, patents, and other relevant achievements. 2. Copy of identification document (passport, ARC, or national ID). 3. Copy of Ph.D. diploma (foreign degrees must be officially authenticated where required). 4. Documentation of professional experience. 5. Publication list. 6. One representative publication. 7. Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts. 8. Research statement outlining future research plans. 9. Summary of previous project experience, including roles and contributions. 10. Names and contact information of three professional references. Publication Requirements Applicants shall provide a complete list of journal articles, conference papers, and other scholarly publications published on or after August 1, 2020.
Applicants must have published papers in SCI- or SSCI-indexed journals as the first author or corresponding author.
Applicants shall designate one representative publication closely related to their area of expertise, which must have been published on or after August 1, 2022.
For appointment as Research Fellow or Associate Research Fellow, the representative publication must be an SCI- or SSCI-indexed journal paper published as the first or corresponding author within the most recent five years after obtaining the qualification for the preceding rank.
For appointment as Assistant Research Fellow, the representative work may alternatively be the applicants Ph.D. dissertation.
For the purpose of determining the most recent five years, the calculation shall follow the relevant regulations of National Taiwan University and the College of Bio-Resources and Agriculture. The five-year period shall be counted backward from the effective date of the teachers certificate; for applicants exempt from obtaining a teachers certificate, it shall be counted backward from the proposed appointment date.
If the representative publication is co-authored, an original certification signed by the co-authors specifying the applicants contribution must be provided. Salary and Benefits Salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with National Taiwan University regulations and will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
